The Early Signs of Kidney Disease

Early Signs Tl

At Pentec Health it is our duty to serve and educate patients and dietitians in our industry. While there is no true cure for chronic kidney disease, there are ways to cope with, treat, and possibly prevent kidney failure. Most patients wait too long for treatment because they are unable to identify early symptoms that can lead to end stage renal disease (ESRD). Our nutrition therapy solutions can help improve quality of life for patients in this stage, but our ultimate goal is to help prevent these outcomes by raising awareness of the early signs of kidney disease.

Early Signs:

Fatigue, having trouble concentrating.

Complications urinating (too much, bloody, foamy)

Swelling in the feet or ankles

Muscle Cramps

Itchy Skin

Trouble sleeping at night

These symptoms are common amongst other diseases, however, if you identify these symptoms early and see a doctor, you are increasing your chances of positive outcomes including the prevention of ESRD.

Although we can’t predict whether or not you will be vulnerable to chronic kidney disease in the future, certain risk factors have been shown to increase the likelihood of ESRD. These factors can be due to diabetes with poor blood sugar, genetics, heritage, or even older age. It is important to be mindful of the possible risk factors in order to identify and prevent ESRD.
