Pentec Health’s Nursing Team Honored with ANCC Pathway Award™

Award to implement technology-enabled integrative patient care

Pentec Health, a leader in providing intrathecal pump management through nursing services and complex pharmaceutical products for patients who require care in a flexible setting, was honored to receive the 2018 ANCC Pathway Award™. The award, sponsored by Cerner, a global leader in healthcare technology, honors a project proposal in a Pathway to Excellence® designated organization that demonstrates innovation and technology to create a positive nurse practice environment.

Pentec Health’s winning proposal was developed to address a worldwide epidemic that spans across all ages and walks of life – chronic pain. “The 2018 Pathway Award will enable us to take our nursing care to a superior level of excellence. Ultimately, our patients will be better able to cope with their pain, thus enhancing their quality of life. With appreciation to Cerner and ANCC, this grant will provide the technology to implement change for remote staff to receive expert instruction in integrative care and present demonstrated research to provide the evidence needed for measurable health outcomes. Our direct care professional nurses, led by Leann Li, deserve the credit for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to the success of this initiative. I am so proud of our team,” said Karen McHenry, RN, MSN, Senior Vice President, Nursing Services at Pentec Health.

“I am proud of our nursing team for continuing to innovate and create opportunities to deliver a superior level of patient care,” said Joseph Cosgrove, Chairman, President and CEO of Pentec Health. “This team is a testament to our overall values at Pentec Health and the commitment we continue to have around keeping the patient at the center of everything we do.”

Members of the Pentec Health team attended the ANCC Pathway to Excellence Conference to accept the award on May 2, 2018. They plan to use the $25,000 award to implement technology-enabled integrative patient care techniques, allowing nurse coaches to hold interactive sessions with face-to-face capabilities. Through this use of technology and educational programming, Pentec aims to advance patient autonomy and involvement in self-care selections while also enhancing confidence in care decisions.
