Muscle Spasticity

Muscle Spasticity

Muscle spasticity is a medical condition characterized by abnormal and painful continuous muscle stiffness, spasms and involuntary contractions, which often result from damage to the brain, spinal cord or motor nerves. It affects over 12 million people worldwide, including eight in 10 patients with cerebral palsy or multiple sclerosis, as well as stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors.1 The condition can be hard to diagnose, but imaging tests and neurological exams can potentially provide information on its source.
